About me

Embrace Progress, Not Perfection

I love simplicity

Hi, I’m Simon, a 30-year-old blogger living in Austria, where I navigate the art of minimalism and simplicity in a fast-paced world. My academic journey took me through one of Central Europe’s elite universities, HSG, where I earned a degree in financial economics. Today, I’m working as a data scientist while simultaneously pursuing a Ph.D., a path that has profoundly shaped my understanding of self-management and productivity.

My journey hasn’t been a straightforward one. Before diving into the world of data and academia, I spent years playing professional soccer. This experience on the field taught me invaluable lessons about discipline, teamwork, resilience, and the power of a growth mindset. Soccer instilled in me a deep understanding that success is built on consistent effort, strategic thinking, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing situations. These principles have guided me in every aspect of my life, from sports to studies to my current role in the tech industry.

Balancing a demanding job with rigorous academic work is no easy feat. It’s a challenge that has forced me to explore strategies for better self-management, productivity, and mental well-being. Through my experience as a professional athlete and now as a data scientist and Ph.D. candidate, I’ve developed a keen interest in psychology, time management, and the science of habit formation. I believe that the skills needed to excel in sports—focus, mental toughness, and the ability to simplify complex situations—are equally applicable to managing one’s academic and professional life.

That’s why I started this blog. I want to share what I’ve learned with students and early-career professionals who are navigating similar paths. Whether you’re struggling to balance your studies with a part-time job, starting your career while managing further education, or simply looking to simplify your daily routines, this blog is here to help.

Here, we focus on “Embracing Progress, Not Perfection.” It’s about moving away from the constant pressure to be perfect and instead focusing on what truly matters—consistent growth, balance, and simplicity. I hope to provide you with practical tips, insights, and a fresh perspective on how to approach your studies and career with clarity and confidence.

Join me on this journey towards a more intentional and balanced life. Together, let’s learn how to manage our time better, reduce mental clutter, and embrace a mindset that prioritizes growth and well-being over perfectionism.
